Was Prophet Muhammad (s) domesticated?

There’s a narrative modern Muslims pursue that is essentially the making of their own imaginations because of how they interact with Hadith underpinned by the current status quo. They portray the Prophet Muhammad (s) as this highly domesticated man who cooked and cleaned for his 11 wives and who was massively indulgent, trainable and romantic. However, when you take all the narrations about his life and try to reconstruct his life in one day you would quickly realise that between politics, teaching the religion, prayers at night, sitting with his male companions, battles, wars and marriages, it was impossible for him or anyone at that time to spend that much time with any particular wife. Yes, he certainly was a cut above all other men, but there was still only 24 hours in a day.

What we did was take one or two narrations about the helpful nature of the Prophet Muhammad (s) who did on occasion pick up a broom and sweep, and tried to portray him as a cleaner, who spent his life cleaning 11 homes everyday. We use this kind of information to drive a very specific gynocentric argument.

Later, when it comes to the issue of maintenance we will revert back to Abbasid jurisprudence where a man must essentially be wealthy to afford marriage and we ignore the Prophet Muhammad (s) and the fact that he wasn’t wealthy at all and yet had 11 wives simultaneously all living extremely humble and simple lives, where if they had food they ate and if they didn’t they’d fast.

The disease that befell the Muslim world and has resulted in its decline is still alive and well, and it can be summed up in the statement of Allah “The ones who prefer the worldly life over the Hereafter and avert [people] from the way of Allah , seeking to make it (seem) deviant. Those are in extreme error.” (14:3) #Muhammad#Islam#Muslims#modernity#discoure#Quran#Hadith
